Jason Quinn, PhD

Chief Executive Officer

Jason Quinn has focused his career on technology assessment with a focus on working to understand how technology can address climate change. He founded Sustainability Science in 2019 based on the need for sustainability assessment in industry. His education and research center on energy with his current work focused on system evaluation of electric transportation, microalgae biofuels, nuclear power systems, agricultural systems, optimization, foundational life cycle methodology, and advancing the state of the field in terms of integrated LCA and TEA through carbon cost accounting. Research efforts are dedicated to the development of engineering system models validated through experimentation and leveraged for techno-economic evaluation, life cycle assessment, and resource demands. Results from modeling work are used to focus research and development efforts to high impact areas. Jason completed a master’s degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in nuclear engineering and engineering physics, and a PhD at Colorado State University in Mechanical Engineering. He is currently an associate professor and Rockwell-Anderson Endowed Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department Colorado State University.

In his free time, he enjoys finding peace disconnected on the rivers of the west with his family. It is his passion for the outdoors that drives him to search for technological solution that support the reduction of carbon emissions.
